Statement of Beliefs (Faith) & Core Values
IcFEM is an indigenous Kenyan organisation based in Kimilili, Western Kenya with a mission of smooth integration of community development, evangelism and innovative provision of holistic care. IcFEM aims at building people, especially in rural areas, both spiritually and practically to become self-supporting. The Mission’s vision is of “God with people and development”.
The main thrust of the Mission is the transformation of the rural communities. Initially the Mission was based on rural Fellowships but from 1995 the main transformation ministries have been developed and taken out from the Mission HQ in Kimilili. The village programmes include welfare, agriculture, education, health care, discipleship ministry and welfare and relief which involves; care for the elderly, child sponsorship, and practical assistance for the handicapped and for the desperately needy. Education and Health are also two of the main activities of the Mission and it has its own schools – Khalayi Nursery School and Dreamland Education Centre Primary school – and a day hospital – Dreamland Medical Care Centre.
Prayer has always been a fundamental part of the work. The Mission has gathered, and equipped, over 200 village intercessory groups, which have prepared the way for a very varied ministry. Based on this foundation, the Mission is now seeking to replicate its model of spiritual, social and economic development widely across the region and to do this, Village IcFEM Fellowships are being created an brought together as Local Transformation Units.
IcFEM is strictly non-denominational and seeks to work with and build up the local churches. Because of the lack of teaching and Bible knowledge among the large number of church leaders, IcFEM has run “Shepherd” courses for church leaders, requiring them to attend one day per week for six months. Through these courses, they have equipped about 1000 church leaders of different denominations.
Whilst the Headquarters is in Kimilili, Western Kenya (link to contact page HQ) (Registration No: 19347) IcFEM has a liaison office in Nairobi (link to contact page NLO) and IcFEM Mission (Europe) which is a registered UK charity which supports the work in prayer and practically (link to contact page UK office) (Charity No: 1107038). There are also supporters in USA, Holland, Switzerland, France and Spain.
IcFEM works with a number of other organisations and charities and networks to present the needs of the community to outside agencies for partnership. These arrangements are formalised with Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs). IcFEM is also known for the high quality of its buildings and its building team trains local people and provides services to other agencies.
IcFEM is based in the Bungoma district of Western Kenya.
